Evaporator core is always damp from condensation. It’s an environmental ideal for breeding mold, fungi and bacteria. Every time you turn on your AC fan, these pollutants enter the car interior unfiltered. There is no air filtration from the evaporator to the air intake entering the vehicle interior.
